20 year old, Alex Cudlin, has finished his first overseas foray into the World Championships in a well deserved 7th place. Alex, racing for the Diablo 666 Kawasaki team, spent the past 6 months travelling all over Europe and Japan racing in a number of endurance events, including the famous Suzuka 8 hour and the Bold D'or 24 Hour. "
It's been an incredible year for me. I have been lucky enough to compete in a sport that I love and find challenging, but I have also been able to see places and things that I always dreamed I would.", said Alex. Alex raced the final round last weekend at the Bol D'or 24 Hour in France, and was in 6th position at the 6th hour when the bike's engine had a major failure, and the team was unable to finish the race. |
"It was really disappointing to end the season that way" said Alex, "It would have been great to go out in a high scoring round, and what made it worse was that I was beating my brother, Damian, on the track. I was lucky this year to be surrounded by a team of professional racers and pitcrew, and a big thanks to Team Manager Miles Hutchins who gave me this fantastic opportunity. He believed in me and that means a lot. Alex did walk away with the inaugral Rookie of the Year Award. "I'd like to thank all of the people who voted for me from all around the world, and especially the local support I got from my hometown of Taree. Alex will be spending the remainder of the year training at the Taree Manning Aquatic Leisure Center with personal trainer Tony Keene to keep up the level of fitness required for World Endurance events. | |
